Suarez already a good signing - Enrique...

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique believes Luis Suarez has already proved his worth despite not having even played a competitive game since his £75 million move from Liverpool.
The Uruguayan will still be unavailable for over a month after receiving a four-month ban for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini at the World Cup in June.
Suarez could make his debut in Enrique's first El Clasico in charge of Barca away to Real Madrid on October 25.
And Enrique believes the 27-year-old's attitude in training has already made him an important signing for the club.
"He is adapting and waiting for his opportunity. He is training as if he could play tomorrow and that was our objective.
"Already, even without playing, I think he is helping us and has been a good signing."
Barca have started Enrique's reign with four consecutive wins and four clean sheets for the first time in the club's history.
However, the former Celta Vigo coach still received criticism for making nine changes as the Catalans struggled past Apoel Nicosia 1-0 to open their Champions League campaign on Wednesday.
There are likely to be another wave of changes for Sunday's trip to bottom of the table Levante.
Enrique insisted he will continue to rotate his squad throughout the season and hinted even Lionel Messi wouldn't be excluded from his changes from game to game.
"Over the course of the season I am going to need all my players. The priority just now is Levante and we will see where we are after that.
"Being without Messi would affect us like any other team. If he could play every minute he would, but I understand that is difficult.
"I will manage it as best I can, but always thinking about what is best for the team."

Military Converts Civilian JTF to Professional Fighting Force.

The Nigerian military has received the backing of the federal government to streamline the activities of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other vigilante groups in the North East into a more professional fighting force in the ongoing counter-terrorism operation against Boko Haram terrorists.
This is coming as more facts emerged that the recent offensive and victories of the military has turned the heat against the insurgents who are increasingly beating retreat and in disarray in most of the territories they made gains last month.
According to information obtained by THISDAY, following the approval of the federal government, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh has set up a high powered committee to work out modalities for regulating the activities of the vigilante groups.
It was gathered that despite the fact that the CJTF members have been very useful in the ongoing fight against the terrorists, some of them have been largely blamed for some serious human rights violations, prompting the government to approve the planned regulation of their mode of operations.
The Committee, which is headed by a two-star Army General with other equivalents from the Navy and Air Force and three nominees each from the three services “will have to work out a clear cut modalities for regulating the activities of the vigilantes and civilian volunteers otherwise known as the Civilian JTF in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.”
Speaking to THISDAY yesterday, a security source explained that the advent of CJTF in the North East was considered a welcome development in the fight against terrorism, with the group doing well in the counter-insurgency activities "until recently when their operations started causing damages to the image of the Armed Forces, due to human rights violations and disobedience of simple instructions."
The source added: “Do you know that despite their heroics activities, some elements amongst them have been causing trouble. We found out that they double deal with us and the terrorists; some have been found to be overzealous and get easily carried away by success and have started over-stepping their bounds.
"Some leak vital operational information and as well as give out wrong information to the media based on their own perspective of issues. We therefore don't want them to constitute nuisance during and after the whole operations," the source stated.
According to terms of reference, the Committee, amongst other things, will be expected to identify the various types of vigilante and civilian volunteers operating in the North East, examine their mode of operations and suggest the appropriate agency, other than the military, under whose control and authority they can be placed.
The source said: "It is believed that this will enable the Army concentrate more on its duties in the state of emergency and counter-terrorism operations in North East. The Committee has also been empowered to fashion out guidelines for effective management and control of the CJTF and other similar volunteer groups.”
THISDAY further gathered that the Committee, which has since commenced sitting was also tasked to identify similar groups or organisations operating in other parts of the country in order to provide comprehensive guidelines for regulating their excesses.
Concerning the possibility of some of them joining the armed forces, the source said in as much as the groups would be well screened to ensure that bad elements are weeded out, the military would not compromise the process and procedures of joining the professional armed services.
In a related development, the recent military onslaught is said to have greatly slowed down the Boko Haram terrorists.
A military source who spoke to THISDAY last night said: “Insurgents are running away in haste in few enclaves they had their presence in Bama and other surroundings with the air force in hot pursuit. We have got them where we want them; the heat is on and place is becoming too hot for them. Their armouries are depleting and they are dying in droves.”

Apam to join Martins in Seattle....

Major League Soccer (MLS) club, Seattle Sounders, on Friday announced the signing of Nigeria defender, Onyekachi Apam.
The terms of the contract for the former Enugu Rangers man is undisclosed.
Sounders, however, stated that "Apam will be added to the roster pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Clearance."
Sporting director of Seattle Sounders, Chris Henderson, believes the MLS club have done a good business by signing on the 27-year-old defender.
Henderson also described the former Nigeria under-20 players as "a versatile defender."
“Onyekachi brings vast experience from French Ligue 1 and the Nigerian national team. He is a versatile defender who can play central or wide and has the ability to start our attack from the back as well,” Henderson said.
The former Stade Rennes and OGC Nice centre-back will now link up with Nigeria striker, Obafemi Martins, in Seattle once his visa and transfer certificate are secured.

'I don't bleach, what I have is sun burn'- actress Ayo Adesanya says.....

Actress Ayo Adesanya says contrary to popular reports, says she doesn't bleach her skin. In an interview published on Punch today, Ayo said what she has is sun burns which most people confuse for skin bleaching ...
"No I do not bleach my skin. When you see somebody that bleaches, you will know. I have sun burns and it is not a hidden thing. I have tried a lot of things to make it fade away but it has refused and I have come to terms with it. I would never bleach my skin, a lot of people get confused about it but I don't get bothered. I don't owe anybody an explanation but when you meet me in person, you can always make up your mind"
What does she think of bleaching?
"Some people are naturally fair and the weather in Nigeria is terrible, it is just recently that we have been experiencing cool weather. The sun is usually very hot and it is bad for the skin. For someone like me, a lot of people are usually confused when they see my picture. They are quick to assume things and they do not know me personally. When you see people in pictures, don't be too quick to judge, do you know how many lights are focused on the person while taking the picture? Because of the weather in this country, there are some lotions people use to enhance their skin and make it softer. There are some lotions that are not harmful but people have some misconception. The weather is very bad and it can affect one's skin if care is not taken. I have friends that are fair in complexion and I know what they go through to maintain their complexion. If you do not maintain it, it would appear as if your skin is dirty. I don't believe people should bleach personally." she said

Man commits suicide in Ekiti state after two failed attempts.

After two failed attempts to kill himself in the last three years, a man said to be in his 30s named Mundiu (pictured above) finally succeeded in killing himself yesterday September 19th.

According to Sun News, Mundiu killed himself in the hall way of his compound in Ayede-Ekiti community in Oye local government of Ekiti state around in the early hours of yesterday morning.

According to one of his neighbors, Muntiu had always complained of being poor and unsuccessful and was said to be very frustrated. A day before he killed himself, he mentioned to neighbours that they will be witnessing drama on Friday but no one knew he was talking about him killing himself...

"He used to complain about the fact that he was very poor and living a wretched life, that he wasn't making money to take care of himself. Two months ago, he had an okada (motorcycle) accident that almost claimed his life. He was moved out of the community for treatment. Two weeks ago, we learnt that he was dead but just three days ago, we sighted him in the community. Yesterday (Thursday), people heard him saying that by today (Friday) the people of Ayede community would witness an amazing drama. No one really read any meaning to what he was saying. We didn't know that he was referring to this suicidal action", a resident of the area said Another neighbor of the deceased said the first time he tried killing himself, it was his father who was alive then that saved him Mundiu. He also tried killing himself the second time by jumping into the river in Lokoja "It was past 12 midnight this morning, a deaf neighbor of the deceased, who we call Taiwo, raised the alarm that he saw something strange and alerted others to come and see it. We were asking him what it was that happened but because he could not hear us, he didn't answer us. All we did was to just follow him to where he was directing our attention to. Eventually, he took us to where the deceased had hanged himself. He was already dead by that time. So, we just left him as you have seen him. We immediately called the police but as you can see, they haven't come. Mundiu had attempted suicide two times before now. The first time, he had tried to hang himself but thankfully, his father caught him and stopped it. Since then, his father had kept the rope as an object of remembrance. Now his father is dead and could not witness this abominable act, he has eventually committed. His second attempt at killing himself was a time we were told he just jumped into a river. That happened in Lokoja, Kogi State. God had brought people on time to rescue him. This was his third time and no one was there to stop him, " the neighbor said.
